Salak Pondoh

Salak Pondoh is fenomenal. Have been developed at roughly the 1980s, the bay is sweet and crunchy fruit soon become excellent in that important region of DIY. In 1999, production of this fruit in Yogyakarta increased 100% in five years, reaching 28,666 tons. Salak Pondoh popularity in the tongue of Indonesia not separated from the aroma and taste, the sweet, fresh taste without sepat, although the fruit is not ripe enough though.

The picture clearly shows the production of a rapid take-off from previous years. Estimated production in the bay all Java until the 1980s only in the range of 7000 - 50,000 tons, with the West Java region accounts for approximately half of that amount.

Salak Pondoh themselves have various variannya again. Some of the famous of them is super Pondoh, Pondoh black, ivory Pondoh, Pondoh nglumut that are large, and others. DIY in the region, the center of this bay is the area Pondoh slopes of Mount Merapi, which includes the District of Turi, Sleman regency. Salak Pondoh nglumut or often also called salak nglumut, the name taken from the name of the village of superior varieties of salak Nglumut this village is also located in the overlay of Merapi and including in the area Srumbung District, Magelang regency, Central Java.
